Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes that boost its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot from enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player has to select it, and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats and the required component or materials.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be put in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix at the end of item upgrader mod names. For example adding the suffix Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph by another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level however the materials required don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the cost of upgrades across several items.

When an item is completed and is leveled out, it will be eligible for an upgrade set of components, as well as a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to gain affixes which will increase its features. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade step requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level, and in which slot it is in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item upgrade fails to reach its max level The NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material, though it will result in less chance of success.

Engineers will utilize a level to measure the height of the building to a known location, such as an existing benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item upgrader mod. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can drastically increase the strength of an item and damage as well as other attributes. This can be done through the menu for items or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in the rarest of circumstances.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item upgrader. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you would be able to get the stats that were important most to your build more often than other. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for every stat. This can be a good or a negative thing depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special fixed-value bonus that boosts its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are rolled over the standard affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the better your chances of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also includes various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a good method of giving the character more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning stages of the game. This is because rerolling could give players a faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They can be of various sizes, contain no elements at all, or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.

There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense value and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you own many armor or weapons already.

Set items can be upgraded to include special functions that are beneficial for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to the level of the different tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

To see if an item upgrade is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on their character screen. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor have higher value when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant improvement in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
