The Advanced Guide To Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.
The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item upgrader kit comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all of its upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
Item level is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. The average level of an item is listed on the character sheet.
When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the item level. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it is capable of dealing with. The level of an item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a few theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory says that the item level is calculated by formulas that determine the worth of an item's stats actually are. It considers the fact that different perks have different values and gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl as the size of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
item upgrader mod Stats
The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded one time, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher prices.
Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage or special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to make them unique by naming them.
All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the specified range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another aspect that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or selecting which stats to increase. Similar to base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items and the properties that are created by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is more advantageous for early game runs, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items can be bought at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..
The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. All items have an overall success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
