10 Quick Tips About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.
The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item upgrading comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. This value is the total of all its leveled up advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.
It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.
Utilizing the level of an item will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock is possible using the item level.
The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory suggests that the item level is determined by an equation that determines the value of the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item upgrade's value. This could result in an item upgrading's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, since the size of the area the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn increased by the player's skill.
Upgrades to the item upgrader mod add by increasing certain stats on the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes could do things like give the item additional damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an exclusive name to the item.
At present, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.
In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it is a unique item or an item that is a God roll from a boss of a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, this must be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of the properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more useful in the initial game run than later ones since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage of any ability that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items can be found in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.
The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.
The Luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has a base success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by five percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects can be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
