Upgrades can boost the performance of a piece of gear and sometimes even its extras. The value of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements, and the number of random augmentations that are applied.
The elite racial Shield Razortail for instance, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption capability in PvP, and/or to provide additional defenses to missile-based builds in the PvM. This makes it more tradeable than the non-upgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
