WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item level Upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the preview of an item upgrader mod's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require several methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will be less expensive, even when they belong to another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item upgrading is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one use therefore it's essential to use them wisely. For instance it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrader equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
