Now is your chance to own a robotic vacuum. CNET's top-rated models are available for sale this Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with savings of up to 57%..
The Roborock Q7 Max offers strong pressure and smart mapping, with app-based no-go zones, and its 180-minute runtime is impressive. It also self-empties itself and automatically refills its water tank.
1. Roomba j7+ iRobot from iRobot.
The Roomba J7+, iRobot's most advanced robot to date is the Roomba J7+. Its most significant advancement is an obstacle detection system that utilizes built-in AI to detect objects such as charging cords, shoes, and the pet waste that many other robots are unable to avoid (and often go through). It's the first robot to send you a picture of an object that it encounters, so you can instruct the robot to stay clear of it.
The Combo J7+ is the best roborock vacuum robot mop that we have ever tested. It removes dirt and spills easily leaving no trace it was there. The iRobot app makes it easy to control. It can schedule cleanings and create Keep Out Zones to ensure that it doesn't clean in areas you don’t want. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start it and stop it with a voice.
The design is also better than the competition. It features a sleek, top piece that looks like toys rather than a loud and obnoxious robot. Clean Base's Automatic Dirt Disposal System is also self-emptying which will cut down your cleaning time.
In our tests the j7+ was quick to remove dust, dirt and pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brushes held the debris in place, instead of scattering it on the floor. It even was able to take small gravel and sand that other robots couldn't do. And it did all of this without getting tangled up in our pet's hair shedding.
The j7+, while not as intelligent as the $1,217 Roomba S9and Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot, and cannot clean the stairs, is still an option for those who want both mopping and vacuum. It's not expensive and the iRobot App makes it easy to use.
The iRobot Home App is easy to use but we found it less reliable as other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates, and at times it's difficult to tell whether the update is working until you see it in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
When you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean floors, your best roborock vacuum option is probably hybrid. This category of bots typically includes a built-in water tank that allows them to mop and vacuum your home simultaneously. These bots also come with a variety of extra features, including smart mapping, small object avoidance, and the possibility of washing and re-drying mopping pads. The negative is that they can be expensive at retail, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they often drop in price.
Roborock is one of our top robot vacuums, and the Q5+ isn't an exception. It's their most affordable auto-empty model. While it lacks certain features that are found on more expensive models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing compromise a bit in order to save some hundred dollars.
The Q5+ is remarkably soft when it comes to obstacles like table legs and walls. This makes it a great option for homes with a lot of furniture. It is also very thorough in removing dust bunnies. This is an area that many cheaper robot broom vacuums do not excel in. The Q5+'s navigation system is also superb, with only a few mishaps along walls and in corners.
The Q5+, as with other Roborock products, can be controlled by only a few buttons on your device or through the Roborock App. Through the app, you can start and stop cleanings or schedules, establish virtual barriers and no-go zones, and modify your home map or re-label rooms.
If you choose to purchase the Q5+, it comes with a new auto-empty dock that's specifically designed to make this robot simple to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver however, once it's in place, emptying the bin is done easily. It also features an impressive LCD display which is great to have when creating schedules or changing settings. This feature isn't required for everyone, but it can help to keep track of the robot's maintenance schedules.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's incredibly smart in both its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design and functionality are some of the top available however it's expensive.
It's a small base station that looks stunning and is easily hidden when not in use. The station's main selling point is that it automates many tasks, functions and chores that other robots would leave to you. It can keep clean and dirty water and electrolyze and heat the water. Many other robots require you to do this.
And its vacuuming is impressive as well. It's the only robovac that I've used that has done well at picking up dirt from floors that aren't. It's also not as loud as the costly Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.
The Freo X Ultra is not without faults, particularly in the area of navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren’t as reliable as other robovacs. This means it is prone to getting stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of the house. It can't climb stairs as well as some competitors, for instance and it doesn't have an dock that allows the user to set up a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.
While it doesn't offer as many in terms of cleaning options available in its app or as many shortcuts within the app as other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for those looking for an all-around great mop and vacuum cleaner that's worth the premium price price.
However, if you're looking to save some cash or simply don't care about the limitations of this robot there are many other options on the market with a wide range of eufy models for significantly less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for example is less expensive however it comes with more features, such as the ability to climb stairs and a full-function Dock, that provides an improved overall experience when vacuuming on bare floors carpets, low-pile carpets, and even high-pile ones.
4. eufy RoboVac g30
Eufy is an Anker company that has a history of producing robot vacuums that offer the perfect combination of features, performance, and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning power for hard and carpeted flooring, and mopping capabilities at an affordable price. It's simple to set up by snapping one of the side brushes on, turn on and plug in the charging dock. The app walks you through several steps to connect it to your Wi-Fi. After that, the G30 is ready to go. It is recommended to keep the dock close to an electrical outlet and ample space for it to move around, however.
The G30 is tiny, 2.85 inches tall to be exact and can be placed under couches and other low-clearance furniture. Its design is less flashy than some of the rival models, and features a sleek black finish and three buttons that are physical: Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge and Spot Cleaning (which scrubs an area in an arc for two minutes). It is also possible to connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands to do unscheduled cleaning.
The way in which the G30 cleans is what sets it apart from its competitors. It uses an integrated map to draw an image of the unmovable items that are in its path. It can remember the things it has cleaned and where it cannot access. When it's time to recharge, it returns to its base and resumes cleaning where it began.
The sleek G30 isn't without faults, though. The iRobot Roomba is better built and has lower monthly costs. It charges faster, offers a similar battery life, and is more effective on bare floors or low-pile carpet. It has a bigger dust bin, which doesn't require as much emptying. It also has boundaries that prevent it from certain areas. The G30 is cheaper and easier to maintain. Its smaller container means it doesn't have to be empty as often, and it has less difficulty with bulky items such as cereal.
