However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we tested the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning from where it started. Battery life is about an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to charge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto vacuum-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your Robot Vacuum Hoover with voice or through the app.
The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy best robovac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.
We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected to these services, we were able communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It is able to quickly change from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.
This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments and the clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's main drawback is its limited running time. Its marketing claims that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a common battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. This is still enough to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to cover every spot (though an additional run-through often will suffice). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's an excellent choice for people who don't want to spend too much money on a best robot vacuum for the money. It could pick up most types of debris and sizes in our tests and would often go over the same area several times for a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well with larger objects, like cords and socks which was a disappointment.
