Item Upgrading Isn t As Tough As You Think

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost increases as the item level rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for instancefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item upgrader kit's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of that equipment with the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of an item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also give a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.

In the final game you'll find that the best way to enhance your gear is to place Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and give an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be put on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

The use of the Glyph can boost all nodes that are linked to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a different item of the same type. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback in that the item could be more expensive even if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea, but shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as dolphins). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the max roll by a factor of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP, as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

The item upgrader lets players increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every each time you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to revert to its initial condition, which requires the user to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained like the chance to crit attack damage, other effects (such as increased heal over time or reloading speed). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items could require different upgrades than standard gear. For instance, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade will require the use of different ingredients for upgrading.
