What is an Upgrade item upgrader in Genshin Impact?

Gems are upgrade components that can be put in any kind of equipment, and provide less benefits than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments are distinct upgrade components that can only be added to ascended gear that is not an ampulet as well as some legendary equipment.
