The upgrade of gear can increase its base stats and sometimes increases its other features. The value of these upgrade is determined by the tiers of gear, their requirements, and how many random augmentations can be applied.
The elite racial Shield Razortail, for example, is frequently upgraded to enhance its lightning absorption function in PvP and/or add additional defenses to missile-based build in the PvM. This makes it more marketable than the non-upgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens are a way to reroll a purchased item like an armor, weapon or rings. This replaces the item with another item of the same type and comes with different bonuses. Reroll tokens can be a cost-effective method of upgrading gear. However, they do not retain the quality of the original item and any resources that are wasted aren't refunded.
Survivors may acquire reroll tokens via a variety of methods, including from the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures. They can also be found in crates and chests or purchased from the market at a cost of 150k each. Reroll tokens can be used to change an attribute on a piece of equipment that could include increasing its damage or giving it a new stat.
Players can reroll their equipment using three aspects: physical power, magic power and health. Upgrades to physical power increase the damage of melee and weapons attack and spell power upgrade mage attacks and rings. Health upgrades provide the player with additional health.
Three types of reroll tokens are available in three categories: upgrade rare, legendary and rare. Each upgrade takes an item to a higher-quality, with the requirement of a higher-level reroll token in order to create it. Upgrades require a regular item level upgrade. Rare upgrades require an item that is either unique or legendary. Legendary upgrades require three legendary pieces.
The marker that rerolls, unlike markers or tokens placed on action areas, stays on the spot until the next success is rerolled. This lets you not waste upgrades.
Blueprints appear as envelopes at the beginning of each Preparation Phase, and can be opened by grabbing them with Interact. Once the player has met the requirements, they can select the upgrade option and apply the Growth Stones. This will raise the item's level by a specific percentage. Based on the rarity of the item the upgrade process can be as quick as a few seconds to minutes.
The upgrade process is risk-free, and does not impact the durability of the item. This makes the system an excellent method for players to gain an advantage in combat without putting a strain on their accounts. Upgrades can boost the Mark Level of an item or Rarity. Some upgrade components come with additional modifiers that can boost the stats of the item.
For example, the helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun" improves base defense, and also adds an extra 20% chance of blocking. The DPS "Wildfire" however, increases weapon damage.
Upgrades can be beneficial to certain items, but not because they increase stats. They are more valuable to players when they achieve a perfect roll. A perfect-rolled 200/6 500 armor set piece, for example, is highly valued by the melee PvP communities and could be worth as much as 20-50 times the non-upp’d version.
When you select an upgrade component that you want to put into an item the game will display an in-game window that lists the requirements required for that item.
