The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. 3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic automatic vacuum and mop/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty those areas are.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance.
