There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this mop and robot automatic vacuum and mop robot is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot vacuum that vacuums and mops uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana.
