How To Get More Results From Your Robot Hoover
The best robot cleaner Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum can clean and vacuum your floors with no effort. It will also leave clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum best that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they are.
If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is louder than the other top best robot vacuum vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
