The ability to upgrade items, written by Peatix, allows players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.

Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as the Titans of eth have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or received from missions and chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade item components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the Best item upgrade they are connected to, for example adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If an individual upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of these items, rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

If an item is not able to get to its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to another person and then re-infuse the item with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower success rate.

To determine the height of a structure engineers utilize a level to compare the measurement against an established reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can dramatically improve an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. This can be done via the item menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be used in rare cases.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each statistic. This can be good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can come with a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher your chance of getting a unique bonus.
