Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item can be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out."
