Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new affixes. They can also increase its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or impact when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, retrieved as loot by enemies, or obtained from chests or missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to select it and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be put in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph by another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade item system differs from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before being "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the impact of those items, rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

If an item is finished being leveled in this way, it is able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it resets to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will increase its features. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's kind. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the current level of the Best item upgrade and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However, it has a lower success rate.

To determine the height of a building, engineers will use a level to compare the measurement with a known reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod before turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a very important part of the game and can increase an item upgrader's damage, strength or other characteristics. You can do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be done sparingly.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes that made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more often than others. This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

To determine if an item Upgrader mod is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on their character screen. It will show the item's attributes, along with the required items to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, armor and weapons are more valuable when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also boost the defense of armor with an updated look.
