11 Ways To Completely Revamp Your Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item upgrading but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require various methods which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item upgrades level will cost less even in the event that they are part of a different gear set.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade item is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For example, once an item level Upgrade is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
