The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum with mop vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum that mops that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaners uk employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
