Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good robot vacuum choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum robotic cleaner and mop that can also sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
