Upgrades to items can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item upgrader has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its base stats increase in value. This is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.

It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is limited to the lower levels). The average item level is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the levels of the item. It's an indicator of the damage and its quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining a vendor's inventory.

The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are many theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory says that the item level is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the Best item upgrader. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.

It's not the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also change its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Best item upgrader Stats

Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times with higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item upgrader by the player, and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or other special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by naming them.

All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every Best item upgrader will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. Similar to base equipment, it will have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a chance to upgrade their gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in the early game as opposed to later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be increased by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that causes damage by 5%. These items can be found in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases that chance by 5%.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
