1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is a good option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dust bin after it has filled up.
Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're excellent in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have test. It could get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include putting away any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is empty it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can direct your robot using the app or via voice.
In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in most households, but it also fits nicely on a coffee table or on a bookshelf where you can move it around like an enchanted wand.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task being performed. It is able to quickly switch from handheld to automatic floor cleaner vacuum and vice versa.
This model also has docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments as well as a Wand clip. This is a big improvement over earlier Dysons models, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. As CR's tests have shown, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average, not an exceptional, time to run the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to cover every spot (though a second run-through usually will suffice). That's not to say this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuum cleaner comparison vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's an excellent option for those who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area several times for an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.
Its best smart vacuum navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The best robovac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, as it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode manually and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand is found on all kinds of home electronics So it's no surprise that they're one of the most popular robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and many more. It's easy to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tested which could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you check in on pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and dustbin are washable to make cleanup quick and easy. 6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They come with a wide cleaning path as well as a large dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than competitors to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which detects whether it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts its power level. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and manage functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to discern where it is focusing or if it has gotten stuck.
The app also makes it easy to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For instance my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, without registering it as an incline. And the ability to program weekly cleaning schedules is a great time-saving convenience.
