World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

item upgrades (Suggested Webpage) are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all the upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a widely used measure of power, and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the levels of the item. It's a useful indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor is possible using the level of the item.

On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full item description, including its ilvl. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is determined. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and sockets have gems that increase the item's overall value. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzards actual item level.

However, this is not the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, because the size of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can make or break an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats of an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes could provide the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.

At present, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat within that range unless they are an exclusive item, or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more useful in the early game than in later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck or to boost the existing Luck of the item upgrader kit up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
