Item Upgrading: 11 Things You re Not Doing
World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.
For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix that alters the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for instance 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of an item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be costly, and it is possible that the item will become obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chances of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible to level 15.
You'll often see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values that can enhance a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs to be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Utilizing the Glyph can boost all nodes that are linked to it, so it is recommended to position your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item upgrader mod comes with a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level requires a different amount of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each completed upgrade items Recipe earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a downside, as the item upgrader kit can increase in price even if you do not require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a different set of bonuses. This is a good idea however it should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.
Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). This item can be upgraded many times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item level upgrade is highly valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of its non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The upgrade of items allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state which means that the player has to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The Best item upgrader will also lose any bonuses it has gained, such as the chance to crit, attack damage, or other effects (such as increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon receives a crit chance boost, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. The player will still need to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each upgrade will require a different amount of the upgrade ingredients.
