Ten Things Everyone Misunderstands About The Word "Twin Stroller"
Best Twin Stroller For Newborns
If you're expecting twins or have two kids close in age, a double stroller is a must. The best double strollers offer different ways to ride your children including side by side seating and an attachment for boards.
The Bugaboo Donkey 5 Mono is Lauren Ro's favourite stroller. It can adapt to your family's needs seamlessly. It can accommodate two infant car seats and a toddler seat, making it a great choice for twins from birth.
Bugaboo Donkey
This is the top double stroller for families searching for a stylish, side-by-side double stroller. It's a larger than the other Bugaboo models, but it feels solid and built to last. It comes with a handlebar that can be adjusted to extend and retract easily. It also has a fantastic reach, so it's easy for my husband of 6'1 to push, even when loaded.
The seats are spacious and can be positioned to place one child in front of the other or have children facing each one. The seats can recline independently of one other. The canopies cover both seat fabrics If you want. They're not very ventilated which makes them feel like an oven on hot days. There's no peek-a-boo window to look at your children.
This stroller has a unique feature that lets it grow with your family and you. It can go from a single seat (Mono Mode) to a double side-by-side stroller. It is the only double stroller convertible to do this. It can even be used in conjunction with another car seat or bassinet for babies.
It is easy to maneuver on smooth surfaces and can handle slopes and steps with ease. The only drawback is that it can be difficult to navigate through crowded shops and restaurants. It is also a little difficult to fold up, especially when the seats are tucked away. It's still pretty compact though, and it can be tucked away easily.
In mono mode, there's a storage bin in front of the front seats. This is great for grocery shopping and other things. The main storage basket under the seats is big and can hold up 100 lbs. This is more than any stroller on our list!
Uppababy Vista v2
This stroller is among the best twin pushchair from birth strollers for newborns. It can be used right from the box as a double stroller, and is compatible with numerous infant car seats and bassets. The Vista Upper and Vista Lower adapters let you use two infant car seats at once.
In comparison to the original Vista, The V2 has added a few enhancements to make it even better. The toddler seat has been raised by half an inch, the footrest is larger and the canopy has an extra fabric extension that zips out. The harness has been updated, as it does not need to be re-threaded. This makes it easier to adjust.
The stroller comes with fairly large wheels (8 inches in front and 11.5 in the back) with a strong suspension, so it is able to easily navigate any terrain. The rubber wheels on the front are perfect for navigating gravel and rocks and the tread on the rear wheels is better for sidewalks or grassy hills.
Another feature that is great is the ability to connect a child's bike to the front of the stroller, which is an ideal option for parents who aren't interested in using an infant car seat or Rumbleseat. And if you have a child who is able to stand and walk, the Vista can even fit an additional child with its piggyback ride along board.
The Vista is easy to use and to set up. However, it takes some time to get rid of the protective packaging. The instructions are easy to follow, and there's an YouTube video if you need assistance in understanding the steps.
Thule Urban Glide 3
The Thule Urban Glide 3 is the most recent version of the popular stroller for all-terrain use. It's made to appeal to modern families who value style, sustainability and adventure. It comes with exciting improvements, including a built-in leg rest and a reclining seat that promises unparalleled comfort for children during long walks and jogging. Its sleek, agile design increases its maneuverability.
It is extremely light, making it easy to drive and speedy to accelerate on the road. Its suspension handles abrupt changes in surface (like grass to pavement) with ease and the oversized wheels provide ample traction for even the roughest of terrains. It can easily climb kerbs without trouble and it turns in tight spaces like city streets with ease. It's even a breeze to navigate narrow sidewalks and overcrowded parks.
Although the new Urban Glide 3 offers superior performance, it retains the classic Thule features that make it an ideal jogger for parents. The large canopy offers excellent sun protection, comes with an easy peekaboo and a top-quality harness system and an integrated handbrake that is precisely adjusted. It has plenty of storage space, including pockets on the seat and a large cargo bag that can accommodate up to 15 pounds.
This Thule Jogger also comes with an infant bassinet for strolling babies and a double umbrella stroller version that can accommodate two kids. It has car seat adapters so that you can use the infant carrier of your child. It also comes with an one-handed folding system to help you transport it or store. It's also a green choice, using dyed solution-dyed fabrics in black hues to cut down on water consumption.
Cortina Together
Cortina Together is designed for growing families and offers parents the option of seating to meet the needs and preferences of every child. The double stroller's two standard stroller seats come with reclining backrests as well as independent canopies. They're also designed to accept one of Chicco's top-rated KeyFit or KeyFit 30 infant car seats in the front and rear seat (car seat sold separately) with the exclusive click-in attachment, without the need for adding bars and straps, like other models that require.
A comfortable three-position handle can be used by dad or mom, and a zippered rear access basket offers plenty of storage space for all of your gear. The tandem double stroller's wheels and suspension ensure a smooth ride on any terrain, while the 1-touch linked rear brakes with toe-tap activation makes stopping a breeze.
In our Strollers & Multiples lab tests, Cortina Together scored well for ease of use. This metric is based on how simple it is to set up and fold the stroller and adjust the safety harness, open and close the snack tray, engage and deengage the brakes, and lift and carry the folded stroller like you would put it in a trunk and for double buggy side by side strollers that are compatible, install and remove the infant car seat.
There are some downsides to this model, however. First, it's heavy. It weighs 36.6 pounds fully loaded, which puts it closer to the extreme end of our metrics. In addition, it has a limited view from the back seat when the car seat is in place. Lastly the front tray release can be difficult to operate, particularly after long-term use. However, despite these limitations, we consider this to be a great double stroller that can keep your family together for many years to come.
Jeep double pushchair Stroller
The Jeep Destination Ultralight Side x Side Double Stroller is an affordable, lightweight stroller that's perfect for families with two kids. Its front swivel-lock wheels rotate to move on flat surfaces and lock for stability on bumpy surfaces, making it easy to travel wherever you'd like to go. It also features an umbrella fold that closes in a matter of seconds and can be set up for easy transport. Its lightweight double pushchair aluminum frame, foam handle and carrying strap makes it one of the easiest double strollers to lift during our tests.
This tandem stroller features reclined seats that can be independently adjusted for maximum comfort. Its canopy is large and offers UPF 50 protection and includes a peekaboo view to make it easy for monitoring. We wish the canopy was vented for extra airflow, however. We were not happy that the cup holder is very high up on the frame. You'll have to bend down in order to reach it.
In our tipping test the Jeep was able to tip over at 39 degrees of incline which is a bit higher than the average for a double stroller. It's also heavier than our top picks but it does provide an adequate amount of storage space for the price and comes with ample padding on the seats and handle.
This versatile stroller has three modes that include wagon (just for stuff), Jogger (with two 5-point safety harnesses for children) and car seat mode. It can be used with one car seat for infants, but pediatricians recommend waiting until your child is 6 months old before jogging with them and one year old before taking them on rough terrain. It is available in black with a limited warranty. Jenni Gritters has been a journalist in the field of parenting and outdoor for over 10 years.
