The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also have a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot vacuum that vacuums and mops uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
