Item Upgrading: It s Not As Difficult As You Think
World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.
For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of an item will be available in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be expensive, and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in various ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.
You'll often see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes faster.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values that can enhance a stat by, and the value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs as well as some rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes that are linked to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.
Leveling
The item upgrade system allows players to increase the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires a different amount of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and also receive the bonuses.
When a player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't need it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough tokens to do so. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, however it's not something that should be repeated often, as it could waste a lot of resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). This item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item upgrader is extremely valuable in PvP as the Best item upgrade version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its non-upp'd value.
Requirements
The upgrade of items allows players to boost the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces boost the defense of the base set, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition which means that the player has to pay for more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained, such as the chance to crit damage to attack, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance that it will be applied prior to any damage from attacks increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to the value of the base item. For instance an item of common use could have five upgrades for a price of. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items could require different upgrades than regular gear. For example they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. The player will need to bring every piece of gear they wish to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment will require different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the cost mentioned above.
