The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum and mop vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
