1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum that mops vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot vacuum that mops uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they are.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
