Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide In Item Upgrades
Path of Exile item upgrades (Elearnportal.science)
Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic equipment because of their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrade components from items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. The absorption of damage by an armor piece will increase when it's upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important note that this will also increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than before.
There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and each one has distinct effects. Some upgrades give armor a greater number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges to use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are constantly updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be gathered through exploring the surroundings and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive but can be found at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are worth the cost.
The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense value. However, it can also reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The boost in defense usually isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade could increase the damage dealt by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Previously you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to a higher level of rarity. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and purchasing equipment with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a better likelihood of granting you most prestigious tier of benefits and blessings.
The majority of players will prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up quicker. Players should also upgrade items the weapons that their teammates utilize to increase their power. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects on weapons and armor. They can be made through a process called jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem and several chemicals at a table. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is at when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons or gear.
All kinds of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for the privilege of having them. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped with a jewel of the same kind without destroying the original one. However, you can only replace a jewel in a piece of equipment only once.
It is typical to use more jewelry for aesthetic reasons. The jewels also improve performance and create a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not damage them.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades players can also obtain glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be exchanged, however they're not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis cannot be swapped out, and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that bestow a wide range of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by doing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.
The first trinket players can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. After that, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in a similar way to how a player obtains weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any piece of equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.
These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also compensate for the absence of good slots in the team or talent tree which would normally be filled by the hero's Best item upgrade stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item upgrader mod to be upgraded. This is especially true if you're looking to upgrade several stats on an item upgrader kit. It is better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.
In the beginning of the game junglers will usually want to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and middle players usually choose a green or pink ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have an impact on the hero's ability to manage the map.
In addition to the items listed above, players will also find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, completing a chapter’s main quest or defeating a boss. You can view them by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
