Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.

3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
