However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.

The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes.
