World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next Best item upgrade by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats improve in value. This is the sum of all its leveled up benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips for items. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the levels of the item. It's a sign of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item level.

On PC, you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its level. It can also be located by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory says that the item level is determined by a formula that calculates how valuable the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.

This isn't the only thing that affects the value of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can change its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste or crit score. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The item's stats can make or break an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items additional damage or other special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item level, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of the item up to 140.

Moreover some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be bought in the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an Best item upgrader, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the luck of the item. Every item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (click to find out more) CORE client config.
