1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot hoover and mop vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.
For larger houses it's worth looking for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
