The 10 Scariest Things About Robots That Vacuum And Mop
Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills and staining) in one session without the need to change devices. They can also reduce space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.
A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking is simple, and the quick-start guide gets you running in no time. You'll have a a full dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at fast speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments and a user-friendly application that lets you pick the exact kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
You can, for example ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation tech are also excellent and the robot is able to detect tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only drawback is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed, but just a glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading, and which obstacles it's run into or avoided.
The docking station comes with a handy LCD screen that shows the time when maintenance is required like emptying the debris and washing the dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the water tank by itself by using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time, with the mop capable of running for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode, while the vacuum is capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you view every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top robot vacuum and mop. It's not like the model from last year this one has an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to pick up small hairs and other debris that other robotic hoovers cleaners could overlook.
This Roborock model, just like the other two I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating two cameras that can recognize objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its direction and clean them without skipping a beat.
It's the most expensive model I've tried, but it also has the most features. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it has only three physical buttons which include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button to return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin auto vacuum and mop-refills.
The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if necessary) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount itself to wash manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. But you'll need to jump through a few hurdles to allow voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering the quality of its performance.
