WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrades upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the Best item upgrade and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level for an item level upgrade (Read This method) in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of a different gear set.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an Best item upgrade upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade items steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade items their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
