They also feature a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top best rated robot vacuum vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
