World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of its leveled up perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a commonly used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It also serves as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at an lower level). The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the levels of the item. It's a sign of the item's condition and quality. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that determines the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in the sockets boost the value of the item. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

It's not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The location of where the item was dropped may change its stats. For example, it could add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to the item level upgrade add by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Another way to change the stats of an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage or other special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by naming them.

All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll affixes. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the specified range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this must be done per item, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of the properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly useful in the early game, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability, which increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item level upgrade to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be crafted to increase the damage of any ability that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be bought at the store, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it does not work.

When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..

The Luck of an item can also affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
