Buzzwords De-Buzzed: 10 Other Ways To Say Robot Vac
Top Rated best robot cleaner Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Choose one that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only every few times.
There are models that mop and charge on their own, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or kids. The top performers in our tests offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it is full.
Both robots are proficient at picking up surface dirt on floors and carpets and are able to navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have tested. It may be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and has the most up-to-date features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot floor cleaner via the app or voice.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households, but it also fits perfectly next to a coffee table or on a bookshelf that you can spin around like a magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then lets cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical and not a remarkable time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is enough time to vacuum a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. (A second run is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robotic hoovers vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times to ensure an extensive clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top selections, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently runs out of battery power before making it back to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot cleaning machine vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a better battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations, docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to learn and use, just like other Samsung devices.
In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models we've tested, and this could be a problem for some shoppers.
The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of automatic cleaning robot. This feature lets you check in on pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned to ensure the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps to keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker robot cleaner Commercial Vacuum
In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are made for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. The robots come with an extra-wide cleaning path, and dust bins that are 2 times larger than other models. This lets them keep the area clean for longer. Plus, they include two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which senses if it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and then automatically adjusts the power level. It also has a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map, and control the functions and schedules. You can also check the vacuum's status and send it to the dock for charging with the click of a button. The app also lets you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum with different colors so you can clearly see what areas it's focusing on or where it's stuck.
The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually should you need to. For instance my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border, without notifying the edge. Also, the ability to create weekly cleaning schedules is a great time-saving convenience.
