Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic cleaner and mop vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robot cleaner vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some extra cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty those areas are.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Also a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
