10 Unquestionable Reasons People Hate Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item upgrader mod has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via various methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain item Level upgrade level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if the items come from a different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade items is cut as well, but is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade items requires up to 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
