1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto vacuum and mop-emptying dock, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaners reviews we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
