Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage or more AD or even more attaches.

In most cases, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage an armored item or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. The absorption of damage by a piece armor will increase when it's upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. But, it's important to note that this will also raise its weight, requiring it to weigh more than it was before.

There are several different types of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. Certain upgrades give armor a greater amount of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item will receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade item as shown in the table below.

Some upgrades are magic or a hybrid of magic and technology, which is shown by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees to use. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh every day or never expire, according to the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive but is readily available in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are well worth the investment.

The player should be aware that upgrading a piece to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense value. However, it can also reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the risk of overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.

Most weapon upgrades require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a set number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade item materials The cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Before, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade item your equipment or weapon to a higher level of rarity. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would be reset.

You can still do this but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a better chance of bringing you the most prestigious benefits and blessings.

The majority of players will prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up quicker. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase a stat or provide secondary effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, where you combine the gemstone with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the jewel it can provide different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

The Jeweler can craft all kinds of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones that require a certain level to get. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the gem once in an item of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in the movement can make it feel more comfortable and is typically used for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be traded, but they are not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be found by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character a variety of small, but useful, benefits. You can find them in the start-up area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player unlocks will be the cloak, which gives a small but useful bonus to speed of movement and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar fashion similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be used in any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant bonuses and abilities that are active even when the character is not fighting. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also compensate for the lack of a strong slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by the hero's Best item upgrade stats.

A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is true especially if you are looking to upgrade item multiple statistics on an item. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

In the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket to a red in the middle and top players typically choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets that form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance completing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
