Five Things You Don t Know About Three Wheeled Buggies
Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight spots.
For a smooth ride, go for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres. Look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are prone to punctures, so be prepared with a repair kit.
Sturdy frame
The latest figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled buggy - a symbol of the noughties of more money than wisdom - is in steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easy to drive while still looking fashionable.
The general rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it'll be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. With larger wheels front and back makes it easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on a newborn baby and a 3 wheel pushchair-year-old child and found it to be extremely sturdy. It was able to handle cobbles, grass, and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt solid to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) come with suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to think about is the seat size and shape. You will want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also require it to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-lightweight 3 wheel buggy buggies will have the option of reclining completely, while others allow the parent to be facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or wet walks. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers until age four and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, a better 5-point harness and large cushioned seat unit. The storage options are excellent as well, with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood, and an attractive pouch at the back of the seat unit.
Wheels with a greater diameter
Larger wheels mean your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - ideal for buggies that are off-road. Additionally, they allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Certain three-wheeled buggies have wheels that swivel on the front, which assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for greater speed and stability. This is especially useful when you bump against a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to keep it from hitting it.
Many 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres that allow them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. They are more prone to punctures, so you will require a repair kit and spare inner tubes on hand.
Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both buggies feature larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and can easily move up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system which in her words "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".
The downside of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite wide and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This can be an issue if you plan to are using it as a jogger, or need to fit through doorways that are narrow while out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with compact folding options that let you take off the front wheels for more compact storage.
Easy to maneuver
A three-wheeled buggy is more comfortable to drive with children. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels rotate on a dime and are extremely easy to maneuver and are ideal for tricky terrain such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her newborn and toddler and wrote: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough terrain and the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also impressed with how well it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when for descending or on a rough terrain."
The only downside to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you need to be aware of when you live in one of the cities. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeler might be better for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are the ideal way to protect your little one from scrapes and bumps while out and about. They are quick and easy to put in and will make your child feel safe and secure while out on the town or on the trail.
This bumper bar is designed to match the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It features a soft, padded surface to provide a comfortable place for your child to hold onto while walking. The sturdy construction and durable design ensure that your child will enjoy a stroll without having to worry about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far forward.
The fabric sling sits snugly inside the frame, not on top like the seat that is modular. This puts the center of gravity for your infant at the right height and also delivers an excellent weight distribution, making it easier to push over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and down than you think). MFM reviewer Kath discovered that it was able to cope well with grass and cobbles and it's a good option for jogging with its lockable swivel front wheel and air filled tyres.

Available in a variety of colours and finishes and designs, it can be tailored to match your style.
