How To Save Money On Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade item increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrader kit owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item upgrader level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is even if those items come from another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an Item level upgrade that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
