Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage, more AD or even more attaches.

Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They boost the effectiveness of the item upgrade they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components inside them, with a professional or higher salvage kit.

The amount of damage an armored item or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. However, it's important keep in mind that this will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than it was before.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. Certain upgrades give armor an extra number of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade the item level upgrade can receive, as shown below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Additionally, some upgrades require a fee to use, which is indicated by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades are updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more costly, however, it is available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can give significant boost to performance and are worth the investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.

The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense values. However, it can also decrease the speed and agility of the piece. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is usually not worth the additional weight and power costs of the upgrades required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.

Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a set number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the higher the level. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment that has low levels of upgrade but with high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the most prestigious benefits and blessings.

The majority of players will prioritize upgrades to the weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress quicker. In addition to these, players should consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their squadmates to make them more powerful as well. Shepard for instance should upgrade items his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase a stat or provide secondary effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method for creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The Jeweler can improve the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem, it will provide a different stat boosts when it is inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to be able to get the privilege of having them. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. You can only replace the jewel once in an item of equipment.

It is typical to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, so repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs give a slight boost in power and can be swapped, but they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with many small, but useful, advantages. They are available in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They can also be obtained through vendors and after the completion of road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinkets a player is able to unlock is the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and the ability to escape. Then, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in the same way to how a player obtains armor and weapons. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't in combat. This lets a hero be more efficient when they are not active. It can also make up for the absence of strong team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by a hero's top stats.

As a rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future. Next, any items with desirable stats that aren't as important as the iLevel for the item Upgrade that is to be upgraded. This is true especially if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It is better to upgrade one important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the beginning of the game. Top and mid players, on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, finishing the main quest of a chapter or beating a boss. These can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
