1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.
Both robots are adept at removing surface dirt on floors and carpets and can move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes about three hours to charge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and comes with all the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or via the app.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It quickly converts from handheld to floor vacuum, and then back to floor robot.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also provides easy access to 2 attachments as well as the Wand. This is a major improvement over earlier Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is a common battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's enough time to sweep the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second run is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to spend on an expensive robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area many times for a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice feature.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It may get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and is often unable to supply power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower costs for recurring expenses, has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to navigate itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistance. It also feels more sturdy, has a more powerful motor, and works better on bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a greater variety of automation options.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the most reputable robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is easy to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.
In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tried and could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also create a live stream from the budget robot vacuum's cleaning station. This feature allows you check in on your children or pets while you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for the quick and easy automatic cleaning robot. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that's self-emptying, which helps keep the robot's dustbin clear and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard flooring. The robots have an extra-wide cleaning path, as well as a dustbin that is 2 times larger than other models. This allows them to clean the area for longer. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which senses whether it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts its power level. It also has a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and control the functions and schedules. You can also monitor the battery's status and then return it to its dock to charge at the touch of the button. The app also allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum by using different colors, so that you can easily identify which areas it's focused on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the best cheap robot vacuum manually, if necessary. My living room rug, for instance is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border without registering the edge. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
