However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is low it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning the area where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum cleaners vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. The main issue with the V10 is its short running time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average not an extraordinary time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is enough time to clean the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. (A second pass is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of kinds of debris in our testing, and it often goes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top Rated robot vacuum picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can cause confusion for other robots I've tried.
