Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, trinkets, and gathering tools to provide an added benefit or additional effect when the equipment is utilized. They can be purchased from vendors or other players, looted, obtained as rewards, or made with crafting materials. In addition to providing bonus points, upgrade items can also have cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components include inscriptions enhancements, and infusions. They are not generally available for general use and are only available on equipment that is ascended or on certain weapons that are not ascending from the Factions Campaign. Infusions, inscriptions and enrichments can be extracted from equipment with an Infusion Extraction Device, or salvaged using a Blacklion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
In contrast to other upgrade items Phoenix Boxes, unlike other upgrade items, can be traded while still attached to the item upgrading that they are upgrading, and they are able to be used again after being reclaimed. These upgrade items can be used to boost the quality of armor and weapon without spending Dilithium. They can double the chance that the item will receive a high-quality upgrade.
An upgrade component placed in an item may be replaced by another however, it will destroy the original (except for upgrades to ascended equipment and legendaries). Only upgraded items that have an identification level of 0 or more can have upgrade components added to them. Adding an upgrade to an existing weapon equipped with a suffix or prefix upgrade will display the name of the new item in the same way as it appears in the game (for instance, adding the Radiant Insignia to Canthan Armor will cause it to be named Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). A player is limited to up to three upgrade items at once.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a useful accessory to any item since they provide a variety of unique advantages and boosts. Some glyphs can also increase the number of affixes attached to an item, increasing its overall power. These glyphs can be found through dungeons, and some be found in certain World Tier 3 areas. It is important to note that glyphs are not available on a character who hasn't created a root dungeon of the same depth.
In order to use a Glyph, you must first build it from components and connect them with anchors. The component will then automatically align to other components or paths within the same layer. If you do not want to create the glyph with components, you can use the combination of anchors and paths. Drag an element close to an element highlighted to snap it in place.
Some glyphs require certain conditions to be fulfilled for example, 25 Dexterity in a particular area on the Paragon Board. Some also require a certain number of Primary Stat nodes to be activated and can be a challenge to attain. Certain glyphs have a radius that grows with each level.
Glyphs are available for a wide variety of items and can be added to any weapon, except for weapons belonging to a particular class. Certain glyphs can be used with additional requirements, like a certain amount of Dexterity damage, or Attack damage on a specific area of the Paragon board.
The Defend Glyph adds the chance to deflect attacks from enemies. It also has an opportunity to make the Hero vulnerable for two turns.
Certain glyphs can also be applied to restricted tools, such as the Black Lion Chest and Trading Post. Adding these glyphs will contribute to the Combat Mechanic achievement.
The most common glyphs are the attack glyphs, which increase the ATK substats of Artifacts by a flat value. They are especially useful for ranged classes such as Warriors and Rogues. The Exploit Glyph can make enemies who strike the Hero vulnerable to damaging effects.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used for rerolling the result of an Action. When the reroll happens, they are thrown away. Reroll tokens are accessible in a variety of ways, like raids and dungeons, or by participating in skirmishes. They can also be bought in the store or from other players. They are particularly useful in dungeons or trials, since they allow players to roll rewards from the end of the chest.
For items that are at level 1, there are recycling points. If an item is recycled it will add a certain number of points to the gauge of upgrade. This number is determined by the rarity of the item level upgrade as well as its level. In addition the upgraded item won't keep its level when it is rerolled and the cost of recycling an upgraded item upgrading increases with its level.
It is also possible to use reroll tokens to make an item rerollable. However it will not bring back the item's original stats, or level. This is useful for players who want to reroll an item or piece of equipment that they don't like but want to keep in their collection.
Three different kinds of upgrade coins are available in the game - Reroll, randomly generated and upgrade. Each type has a few subtypes. For instance, tokens that reroll come in three different levels: rare, enhanced and legendary. Each level requires an item from the respective level to make the new item of that quality.
To make use of reroll tokens, right-click the Satanic or Angelic item in the inventory and select "Reroll Token". Select the type of token you want to use. The tokens available include item upgrades, Weapon, Misc, 1hgun, 2hgun and Focus. The item upgrader Kit token can be used to create a new Item in any quality. Using an item token or a Weapon or Misc token will produce a new weapon from the same faction.
The item may be upgraded to a different item with the same stats but is at a higher level. This will occur when the item is in the Pool that cannot be dropped or has been transferred to it as part of an Franchise Card.
