When I tested the S1, it was quick to locate our downstairs, which has linoleum flooring in the kitchen-diner and bathrooms, along with medium-pile carpeting and a large area rug. It was able to drive close to walls and even across thresholds that are raised without issue. However, it had some difficulty traversing the stairs in one step. The S1 also did an excellent job cleaning hard floors with its mop that moved smoothly on its flat side against the floor and lifting itself when it was near carpet or carpet.

The S1's docking station automatically emptys its dust bin and refills its onboard water tank with clean, ozonated water prior to every mopping session. The dock also provides a deep-cleaning solution for the water. The S1's water tank can hold enough water for about 12 cleaning sessions before needing to be emptied, though this will vary depending the amount you use the mop.

Like all 2-in-1 robots, the S1 requires periodic maintenance to ensure that it's operating efficiently. It is necessary to regularly wash out the tank that has been contaminated to keep it from becoming blocked. You'll also need to clean the swivel wheels and sensors regularly to prevent them from getting clogged by dust or dirt. But, overall the S1 is easy to maintain, particularly compared to other models which require more effort to maintain.

Dreame's X30 Ultra robot vacuum and mop were released earlier in the year. But their new flagship model is packed with impressive features. It delivers outstanding cleaning results and is easy to maintain. This makes it a contender for our top list of robot vacuums and mop. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition and a long side brush guarantee an efficient, customized clean.

The X40 Ultra vacuums well, removing both fine and large debris. It is a great choice on carpets and hard floors. It also cleaned our test's most soiled areas efficiently, while avoiding tangled pet hairs and other mess. The sweeping performance of the machine is enhanced by a sidebrush that automatically moves out to get into areas that are difficult to reach and mop pads that run across baseboards.

It's got a powerful suction power of 5500Pa and an auto-empty system so you don't have to manually empty the bin every time. It also has a clever app that lets you set the type of floor and schedule cleanings, as well as an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop water tank refill and wash system to allow hands-free operation.

The mops also stand out with their 2700Pa power that can take on pet hair and dirt, on both carpets and hard flooring. The Q5 was one of the few robots that we tested did not show issues with high-pile carpets and rugs. However, it was able to not handle kitty litter or cable tangles.
