The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot cleaner vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The automatic vacuum and mop robot has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
